A maths teacher in Oklahoma has been extradited to Kansas over allegations that she had sex with a 13-year-old student.

The maths teacher has been named as Christin Covel, 31, who was recently fired from her job and who was reportedly recently booked into Sedgwick County Jail in the city of Wichita after being extradited from the state of Oklahoma to the US state of Kansas, on the afternoon of Tuesday 11th January.

The maths teacher faces accusations that she had a sexual relationship with an unnamed student who was not legally able to consent. The gender of the student has not been revealed.

She was considered a fugitive from justice at the time of her arrest.

Wichita police spokesman Trevor Macy stated that the alleged child sex charges involved a minor aged 13 and took place in 2018 and 2019, adding that they had only just been reported last month (December 2021).
