A singer who allegedly beat her ex to death with an iron bar after he begged to get back together and then buried his body in a wood has been seized by police in Turkey.
Suspect Secil Ciftci told police in Istanbul the couple had rowed and she had hit him repeatedly with a broken metal chair leg, according to local media.
Her father – who has reportedly helped her tie up and bury victim Semih Sevgi’s body in woodlands near the city – has also been arrested.
His body – identified by his fingerprints – was found by a family picking mushrooms in the woods.
Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command began to suspect Ciftci after she made a number of contradictory statements, according to local media.
After her arrest, she reportedly told investigators: “I hit him many times with the broken iron leg of the chair as the argument grew.
“When he died, I asked my father for help.
“We buried the body with its hands and feet tied.”
Ciftci’s father, who has not been named, was also arrested. Both have been detained in prison pending the outcome of the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
