The young girl had a cough that just would not go away as well as dyspnea, which is also known as shortness of breath. It is often described as a tightening in the chest and causes breathlessness or a suffocation feeling.

After an examination, a doctor found the live, 15-centimetre (6-inch) leech under her glottis, which is located in the larynx.

After the doctor successfully removed the leech, the young girl reportedly made a full recovery and was expected to be discharged from hospital soon after the procedure.
