This is the moment a stabbing suspect on the run from the police comes upon a drink-driving checkpoint and nearly mows down cops trying to stop him.

The dramatic incident was captured by officers and other witnesses in the city of Suqian in China’s eastern Jiangsu Province on the evening of 4th December.

The suspect surnamed Wang, 39, went on the run after allegedly stabbing a victim during an earlier dispute, the police said.

Minutes later, however, he encountered the group of officers carrying out routine drink-driving tests at the busy junction between Hongzehu Road and Ping’an Avenue.

Video shows Wang apparently refusing to cooperate with demands he leave the car and reversing backwards and forwards as he tries to find a way to escape.

Policemen trying to stop the suspect jump out the way or run in different directions when Wang drives towards them, the video shows.

He also collides with a number of other vehicles in the process, badly damaging his own car.

Suqian police said Wang later drove off before its officers could break guys windows and force him out of the car.

Wang was eventually detained by the pursuing officers and remains in custody as investigations continue.

The authorities did not say whether the suspect was drunk at the time of the incident.
