This is the moment a farmer finally locates a fat Burmese python and pulls it from its den by its tail after the animal had reportedly preyed on more than 500 of his ducks in a year.
Duck farmer Mr Lin keeps several thousand waterbirds by a dam in the town of Longjiang, which is in Huilai County in China’s southern province of Guangdong.
He began noticing his ducks disappearing in large numbers and under mysterious circumstances in 2018, and he finally found the culprit last month.
Footage taken on 16th December shows Mr Lin and several other villagers raiding the den of the Burmese python (Python bivittatus).
The reptile weighing 51 lbs and measuring nearly 10 feet long lived just 1,000 feet from Mr Lin’s reservoir, which it used as its personal ‘cafeteria’, reports said.
Video shows the villagers evicting the large snake by tugging on its tail while it struggles to slither back into its den.
The python, which in mainland China belongs to a Class I state-protected species, was put in a sack and released some 12 miles away, Mr Lin said.
The farmer told local media: “I started noticing my ducks going missing last year. I lost 500 of them.
“I was inspecting my ducks when I saw the snake. It was busy eating one of my ducks.
“It swallowed it and slithered away into the hillside.”
The python is not thought to have been harmed during its removal.
