These images show the horrific facial injuries suffered by a pretty wife after her husband allegedly set her face alight with petrol when she forgot to buy cigarettes from the shop.
The incident took place in the city of Nisporeni in the district of the same name located in western Moldova and the suspect has reportedly been imprisoned for 30 days as the investigation continues.
According to local media, the victim, identified as 26-year-old Galina Armasari, was disfigured by her husband because she returned from the shops without cigarettes.
She said during a Publika TV interview: “That day, everything was normal, we were not squabbling. We were preparing some meat when Ion (husband) asked I wanted to drink beer.
“I said that I did not, but I could buy it for him and when I got back from the shop his friend Andrey had popped round and they were drinking wine.”
After scolding his wife for forgetting cigarettes, the husband threatened to burn her face, according to reports.
She described the incident: “In a flash, he poured liquid on my from a champagne bottle. It smelled like petrol.
“In a split second, he set my face alight. I tried to put it out myself as he did not try to help me.
“I pulled my sweater over my head and extinguished the fire. He then told me to come and sit down next to him. I said that my face hurts and we should call for an ambulance, but he refused.
“My mum came round and she took me to the hospital.”
Armasari added that she is not unable to look at herself in the mirror following the alleged attack.
The suspect is being held in custody for 30 days as the investigation continues.
