An image of the legal document shows how the 30-year-old from Rio Grande do Sul state signed the will at the 9th Notary Office in Porto Alegre on 12th June.

A passage from the document reads: “It is the testator’s clear and final will, which, respecting the legitimate shares, determines that the disposable portion of his assets be given to Neymar da Silva dos Santos Junior.”

The will was reportedly signed in the presence of two witnesses and the substitute notary, identified as Altemir Francisco da Silva.

The authenticity of the document has been independently verified, local media report.

According to the document, the businessman, who is reportedly single and childless, “is in his perfect mental faculties and free from any inducement or coercion”.

Choosing to remain anonymous, he told local media in an interview: “Even though I am almost 31 years old, I am not in good health, and because of that, I truly realised that I have no one to leave my belongings to in case something happens to me.”

When asked why he had chosen to leave his assets to multi-millionaire Neymar, he replied: “I like Neymar, I identify a lot with him.

“I also suffer from defamation, I am also very family-oriented, and his relationship with his father reminds me a lot of mine, who has passed away.

“But above all, I know that he is not self-interested, which is somewhat rare nowadays.”

The testator added: “I would hate to leave it to the government or relatives with whom I don’t get along.

“I tried to reach out to Neymar, but I wasn’t successful. I also have some family objects and things.”

Brazil and PSG star Neymar, who, at 31, is older than the businessman, has an estimated net worth of USD 200 million (GBP 157,000,000).

He had not commented on the story at the time of writing.
