The driver of the speeding car which caused a horror three-vehicle pile-up in which a Brazilian football star’s four-year-old son died has admitted he was drunk.
Paramedics twice had to bring critically injured toddler Davi Pereira back from the brink of death following the head-on crash in Konyaaltı, in Antalya Province in Turkey.
The youngster’s heart stopped twice on the way to hospital and had to be restarted. But sadly he died later despite the efforts of medics.
And now, the driver Ferhat Karakas, who has been accused of ‘causing death through conscious negligence’ appeared in front of the 5th High Criminal Court.
Karakas told the court that he was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Previously, the football club Antalyaspor made a statement informing of Davi’s death.
They said: “We will not forget you, Davi!
“Our condolences to our football player Naldo and his family, especially his loved ones, relatives and our community.”
His footballer father, Edinaldo Gomes Pereira, 35, known as Naldo, was not involved in the crash.
The smash happened when Naldo’s father-in-law and Davi’s grandfather, Walter Tilatti, who was driving, collided with another vehicle head-on.
