Firefighters Winch Rescue 26.5 Stone Woman Down From Apartment

This is the moment a 26.5 stone woman is winched down from her eighth-storey apartment after paramedics said she was too big to get through the front door.

Firefighters in Bello, in the Colombian department of Antioquia. Were called in to help remove the woman from the high-rise block for urgent treatment for a broken leg.

Video footage of the rescue shows the patient, who has not been named in local media. Strapped to what appears to be an ambulance trolley as she is lowered slowly to the ground.

With the trolley fixed to the rescue bucket of a fire engine’s turntable ladder, the patient swings gently in the air as she descends.

Beside her, strapped into a safety harness, a firefighter oversees the ride down as colleagues shout out instructions in the clip. Filmed on 27th January.

Other footage shows anxious spectators and well-wishers as the fire engine’s stabilisers keep the progress down smooth.

Local media reported that 10 firefighters took part in the rescue and the woman was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

There have been no updates on her condition.
