An ear-wigging woman who listened covertly to see if her neighbours were home got her just deserts when her head became trapped in their side gate for five hours.

The incident took place in the municipality of La Virginia in the western Colombian department of Risaralda when the unnamed woman poked her head through the gate to listen in on her female neighbour.

However, the woman became stuck and had to wait there for five hours until the emergency services arrived and firefighters freed her, according to local media. 

In the photos shared on social media, the woman is seen with her head stuck between the bars of the gated entrance.

Meanwhile, a cop and firefighter are assisting the neighbour as other helpers look on.

The woman is seen bent over and some people appear to smiling at her misfortune.

Netizens had a lot to say about the incident, with many online commentators slamming the woman for appearing to be a nosy parker.

Social media user ‘Adriana Lopez’ commented: “Her ears got stuck in the gate. Good! Nosy old lady.”

‘Emerita Matamoros’ said: “That is what you get for being a gossip. It would be great if it happened to everyone who goes out of their way to know about other people’s lives.”
