This is the moment a dedicated professional cyclist trains on a stationary bicycle in a hospital while he receives cancer treatment.

Spanish cyclist Juan Francisco Fernandez Escribano was recently diagnosed with leukaemia earlier this year for the second time in his life after signing for Spanish cycling team Esteve-Chozas Team based in the capital of Madrid.

Fernandez Escribano has seemingly not let the diagnosis deter him from his aspirations as a cyclist as he took a training bike to the hospital to continue with his training after his diagnosis.

The video shows the moment Fernandez Escribano focuses on his cycling exercise. As the camera changes angles, a machine connected to his arm can be seen next to him.

The young cyclist lifts his head for a brief moment to look at the camera only to put it back down and continue with his training as music plays in the background.

Fernandez Escribano’s cycling team shared the video and captioned it: “Cyclists stand out for their exceptional willpower and their sacrifice on a bicycle.

“Today our under-23 Juan Francisco Fernandez shows us again he is out of this world. We can say it louder but not clearer, OLE, TO YOUR B*LLS!!

“We are still fighting and still winning this time. You are an example for many people.”

Fernandez Escribano reportedly received the same diagnosis two years ago but was able to overcome the illness after receiving treatment and a bone marrow transplant.

He made headlines at that time gaining praise from legendary American cyclist Lance Armstrong and fellow-Spanish cyclist stars Alberto Contador and Alejandro Valverde as he trained through his illness in that instance as well.

Esteve-Chozas Team made a statement today (Tuesday) saying Fernandez Escribano has re-signed for the team’s 2020 season.

His current status is unclear.
