A dad has stabbed his two daughters to death in a furious rage after his partner walked out of him on Mother’s Day and went to stay with a friend.

The dad who apparently committed suicide afterwards has been identified only as Eduard K. because of local privacy laws.

The 32-year-old who is from the German city of Essen allegedly murdered his two daughters Emelie, 5, and Anna, 4, on Sunday, 9th May 2021, which was Mother’s Day in Germany.

The incident happened in the district of Krey after the perpetrator had an argument with his girlfriend whose name was not reported by local media. After the row the 31 your old who was also the mother of the two victims left the apartment and spent the night at a friend’s house.

She did not return until the next morning at around 7pm, however, she could not open the door so she called the fire department emergency services to help.

A fire brigade spokesperson told Bild: “Three lifeless people were found in the apartment.”

According to initial suspicions, Eduard K. stabbed the children to death during the night, after which he committed suicide.

Neighbours said that the man was considered aggressive and claimed: “We often heard them arguing. He must have hit his girlfriend, couldn’t control himself. He must have been a psychopath.

“It’s so terrible, only yesterday we saw the girls happy in the playground in front of the house.”

Another neighbour stated that Eduard K. was admitted to the clinic about ten days ago for having tried to take his life away with sleeping pills.

The mother received pastoral care and is still being looked after by the local authorities.

The police have been on site several times but have not revealed any more details about the incident.

The investigation continues.
