A German appeal court has upheld the conviction of a father-of-three for sexually assaulting this 14-year-old schoolgirl back in 2006 after he boasted to undercover cops about dragging her into a cellar before throwing her body in the rubbish.

He told the cops that the rape had not been much fun as the girl, who had dreams of becoming a model or an actress, was unconscious at the time and it only lasted five minutes.

It was previously one of Germany’s most well known unsolved murders. The body of Georgine Kruger was never found, and there was no forensic evidence linking the suspect to the killing, but he was taken to court by prosecutors after years of investigation, including the private conversations with undercover officers.

The original court in the German capital Berlin heard evidence from over 70 witnesses for over a month as Ali K., a German with Turkish origins and a father-of-three, was prosecuted on charges of rape and murder.

The authorities believed that he lured the victim into a cellar where he raped her and beat her to death before disposing of the body by putting it in a carpet and dumping it in a rubbish container in the courtyard of his apartment block.

The 45-year-old targeted her while she was on her way home from school in Berlin and was last seen at a bus stop. Despite an intense search, her body was never recovered.

Among the evidence heard by the court was the fact that Ali K., who had a criminal record for sexually assaulting an underage girl, had previously been interviewed as a witness in the case but was not arrested until December 2018, over 12 years after the girl went missing on 25th September 2006.

In June 2017, undercover detectives launched further investigations into Ali K, and reports said that undercover officers also secretly questioned him.

In March 2018, Ali K. and his wife Melek were introduced to an undercover cop named Susann.

Melek reportedly told the undercover cop that her husband often watched young girls from his apartment window.

Part of the evidence against him included undercover cops who infiltrated his circle of friends and persuaded him to talk.

Ali K. told officers the name of his victim, admitting to rape and murder, and saying he did not have fun as the girl was unconscious anyway and the rape took five minutes, according to reports.

Investigators believed he was telling the truth as Ali K. knew details that only the murderer could have know.

Other evidence was the fact that he claimed to not know the girl even though they were neighbours, and the fact that on the day she vanished his mobile phone was in the same area as hers.

Reports said the suspect had been convicted of sexually assaulting an underage girl in 2012 in Berlin, with the same modus operandi of luring the girl, 15, into his cellar.

Local media said he had been sentenced to one and a half years in prison in that case. The prosecution filed an appeal for a longer sentence which was subsequently prolonged by two months only to be suspended for probation.

The court explained it was his first prison sentence and that he had favourable prospects for rehabilitation as an employed father.
