A young man has been arrested for stabbing his partner and mother of their three children in their car before dumping her bleeding body outside a hospital and driving off.

The incident took place in the town of Rio Colorado in the north-western Argentine province of Tucuman on Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Yannett Valladares, 30, a mother of three children aged 11, eight and four who she called her “three loves”.

Valladares went to pick up her partner and the father of her children from a meeting and a row started in the car.

According to reports, the suspect, Walter Castellano, stabbed his girlfriend in the car before leaving her in agony at the entrance to the Doctor Parajon Ortiz Hospital.

Local newspaper Todo Noticias said the woman succumbed to her knife wounds in hospital shortly after.

Castellano fled the scene and reportedly confessed to the killing to his brother. Two hours later, he turned himself over at a nearby police station and told officers what he had done.

Local feminist groups have voiced their anger over Valladares’ death and called for justice.

The ‘Revolucion Feminista y Disidente’ group organised a protest in the city centre of Famailla where Valladares, who owned a patisserie, lived and worked.

Meanwhile, the couple’s car where the alleged stabbing took place was found by the police near the hospital.

Officers are reviewing local CCTV cameras to learn more about the events leading up to victim’s death.

The investigation continues.
