Meanwhile, a WPC animates the crowd with a microphone before belting out a tradition ‘cumbia’ song from the region.

The lyrics include: “I dream of protecting you, I will always care for you, I will protect your life.”

According to local media, the Peruvian authorities have issued strict lockdown measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Similar to many other countries around the world, citizens can only leave their homes for essential tasks such as food shopping and visiting the doctor.

The National Police are issuing permits to people who need to be on the streets which can be obtained online and should be presented to the authorities whenever requested.

According to the latest figures, Peru has reported 416 cases of COVID-19 and seven related deaths.
