This is the hilarious moment a young Russian girl records a recreation of the moon landing on the potholed streets of her city to try to convince the authorities to fix the tarmac.

The hilarious video was recorded on Karpinskogo Street in the city of Perm in the western Russian region of the same name and was later posted onto social media.

In the black-and-white footage, a little girl named in reports as Darya Kuchumova, 6, can be seen stepping down from a ladder onto the cratered surface below in a mock astronaut suit.

At first, the audio appears to be that of the Apollo 11 mission that put Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the moon, but then as soon as she touches down, the audio changes to that of Apollo 13.

As the girl, dressed in an astronaut’s outfit, ‘moonwalks’ across the surface – which turns out to be a badly potholed road – the famous “Houston, we have a problem” line can be heard.

The girl carries on walking down the damaged tarmac in front of a car as the voices of the Apollo 13 mission can still be heard.

Darya reportedly came up with the idea herself and her unnamed uncle then filmed it and posted it online.

The girl said the idea came to her as a way to draw the attention of the authorities to the state of the road which her elder sister has to drive on every day to get to university.

Her sister reportedly complains that her back hurts from driving down the bumpy road and the authorities have confirmed they are going to repair the road.

An unnamed representative of the local city hall said: “This road will be repaired not because of the video. This road was planned to be reconstructed from the previous year and the works will begin when the weather gets warmer, in April, most probably.”

According to the local authorities they plan to widen the street, creating four lanes.

Netizen named ‘Marat Murzabaev’ commented: “I liked the idea. Well done. It should work.”

The Apollo 11 mission put Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the moon on 20th July 1969. In 2018, the Hollywood blockbuster First Man chronicled the mission.

Apollo 13 launched on 11th April 1970 but on 13th April, there was an explosion on board which could have spelled the end for Jim Lovell and his crew. Thankfully, they managed to return to Earth in what has been dubbed a “successful failure”. It is the subject of the 1995 film Apollo 13 with Tom Hanks.
