This is the bizarre moment Spanish cops find two people living in a makeshift shelter in the middle of a snowy forest to avoid contracting COVID-19.
The video was filmed in the Penalara Natural Park northwest of the Community of Madrid in central Spain and the footage was shared on social media by the Spanish Civil Guard.
In the footage, Spanish cops are seen approaching a makeshift shelter in the middle of a forest before finding two people inside.
According to Russian media, the couple, a 32-year-old Russian woman and her 43-year-old Peruvian boyfriend, had planned to stay in the makeshift forest camp until COVID-19 had disappeared.
The couple was found in a weak condition with signs of dehydration and hunger, according to reports.
The Spanish authorities said the pair was not wearing sufficient clothing for the mountain temperatures and had suffered from the freezing conditions for at least several days.
Reports said the couple was taken to Madrid for treatment and that they could face punishment for violating the country’s strict lockdown rules during the COVID-19 outbreak.
According to the Spanish Ministry of Health, there have been 33,089 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 2,182 deaths.
