Cars Swept Away As Massive Wall Of Water Sweeps Through City

This is the moment a street of cars is swept away as a 20-foot wall of floodwater suddenly bursts through city centre streets.

The first piece of footage, recorded in the Bolivian capital La Paz on 20th March, shows rush-hour traffic squeezing through a junction in heavy rain.

Suddenly a massive surge of black floodwater apparently erupts through the city’s drainage system and heads straight towards the traffic.

As it hits, the wall of water is so powerful it swats away cars floating them sideways across the street.

A roadworker in a hi-vis jacket tries desperately to outrun the wave but he is quickly engulfed by the fast-moving water too.

The second piece of footage, filmed from a car dashcam, shows the incident from a different angle and the worker running for his life.

Local media reported that despite the mini-tsunami-style wave, no one was killed in the flash flooding.

But social media users told how they thought the blame lies in the city’s broken drains.

One said: “The blame does not lie with the rain but with the clogged drainage system.”

Another said: “Only in Bolivia, seriously!”

While a third said: “How scary, I pass by there often.”
