Hero kids’ camp staff stopped a crazed dad from drowning his own toddler daughter in a pond.

Timothy Ryan Shipman, 42, was seized by cops from San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department following the drama at Pali Mountain youth camp in Running Springs, California on 25th October.

The officers had been dispatched to the site following a report of a drowning.

The Sheriff’s Department said that suspect Shipman “lied his way onto the secure facility, locked his five-year-old son in his vehicle and attempted to drown his two-year-old daughter in a pond on the facility”.

But quick-thinking staff at the youth camp noticed what was going on and managed to rescue the children, averting tragedy.

Gloria Huerta of the Sheriff’s Department said: “Some of the staff at the camp were able to retrieve the children and keep them safe until deputies and medical personnel arrived.”

Both youngsters were taken to a hospital in stable condition and were later handed over to their relieved mother.

Shipman was taken away by ambulance and then arrested by police. Investigators are now working to establish the motive for his actions.

He is accused of attempted murder and his bail has been set at USD 1 million (GBP 864,000).
