A daycare worker accused of biting a one-year-old boy she was supposed to be looking after has been seized by police.

Burly Haley Rozek, 26, was arrested after the tot’s horrified mum found bite marks on his arm after a day at the Kids Company daycare centre.

Police in Laurel, Mississippi, arrested Rozek after she confessed to biting the baby on 5th December but claimed it was accidental.

She has since been charged with felony child abuse.

Investigator Denny Graham of Jones County Sheriff’s Department told local media: “The daycare employees were interviewed and one of the employees, Haley Rozek, admitted to biting the child on the arm.”

He said: “She stated that it was the child was upset, she was trying to calm the child down, blowing on his arm and he pulled away and she inadvertently bit him.”

Rozek – of Laurel – filed an unemployment claim after she was dismissed from her job the next day.

But, she claimed to unemployment officials, she was “fired because she accidentally bit a child”.

She attended her first hearing at Jones County Justice Court on 11th January.

She has since been released from custody at Jones County Adult Detention Center after posting a bail bond of USD 15,000 (GBP 12,266).

It is not clear when a second hearing will be held.
