Boy Dies After Accidentally Locking Himself In Car Boot

This footage shows a young boy accidentally locking himself in the boot of a parked car where he suffocated to death as midday temperatures reached 37 degrees Celsius.

The family of the seven-year-old, whose name has not been given, reported him missing to police in the county of Xuyi, which is in the coastal city of Huai’an in East China’s Jiangsu Province.

Authorities investigating his disappearance finally spotted him on CCTV, which showed him playing near the white saloon in the car park outside the Royal Gardens residential area.

The footage dated 5th June shows the last time the boy was seen alive as he wanders around the parked car and opens the boot.

The vehicle had apparently not been locked and its owner was not around either.

No one sees the boy as he climbs in the boot and accidentally locks himself inside by shutting the door.

The boy’s lifeless body was reportedly discovered hours later.

According to reports, he was not breathing and was pronounced dead shortly after.

Temperatures in Xinyu County are said to have reached highs of 37 degrees Celsius on the day, and the child is thought to have suffocated to death in the tiny space.

Local police are still investigating the case and did not reveal whether the saloon owner could face any charges.
