This video shows a five-year-old boy steering his grandad’s bus with more than 10 passengers on board after the child “begged” to drive and the grandparent agreed so he would stay quiet.

The dangerous stunt happened on the streets of Wuxue City in Central China’s Hubei Province where driver Mr Lu works as a bus operator.

According to local police, Mr Lu had finished a shift and was driving more than 10 family members homes on the day on 15th November.

Passengers included his own wife and his five-year-old grandson, who “begged” him to let him drive the bus, he told police.

In order to keep the boy quiet, Mr Lu lifted the child onto his lap and let him steer the moving bus.

The footage, which was filmed by a relative and posted online, shows the grandad appearing to have taken both hands off the wheel as his young grandson grips it instead.

The grandad keeps his hand on the gear lever and also controlled the brake and accelerator pedals, reports said.

The authorities arrested Mr Lu on 2nd December and charged him with allowing the minor to drive, and also with endangering the lives of his passengers.

He remains in custody as investigations continue.
