A woman’s driving licence has been suspended after traffic cameras caught her speeding off into traffic with her elderly dad clinging onto her car bonnet.

The bizarre incident was reported by concerned residents in the city of Taizhou in China’s eastern province of Jiangsu on 3rd December.

Red hatchback owner Ms Han was intercepted by local police after she was seen driving through a busy junction with a male lying on the bonnet of her car.

In surveillance footage of the incident, her pensioner dad is seen lying on top of the car engine, and his feet nearly touch the ground as his daughter carries him for what police said was 1 kilometre (0.6 miles).

The authorities who finally stopped Ms Han learned that the man on her bonnet was, in fact, her father.

She said she had argued with him on the morning of the incident, and he tried to stop her from going to work.

However, the determined woman decided to drive off despite her equally persistent dad hanging on her car bonnet.

The authorities have suspended Ms Han’s driving licence over the dangerous stunt, but it was not clear at the time of writing whether she would receive a fine or a lengthy driving ban as a result.

Ms Han’s father is not believed to have come to any harm.

An investigation is ongoing.

The police did not reveal what Ms Han and her father were quarrelling about on the morning of the incident.
