A gunman who shot his girlfriend in her privates and then killed himself had accused her of cheating with another man.

Roberto Enríquez Zapata, 52, flew into a jealous rage after finding out that his girlfriend Odalis Quezada, 42, had allegedly had an affair, in San Pedro de Macoris, in San Pedro de Macoris Provine, in the Dominican Republic, in the early hours of Wednesday, 13th September.

The police said that Zapata fired several shots at his girlfriend after finding out that she had been unfaithful, hitting her in the pelvic area, in the thigh and in her left arm.

He then shot himself, according to reports.

Both were taken to the Dr Antonio Musa Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead and she continues to be treated for injuries. There have been no updates on her present condition.

Relatives of the injured woman said that Zapata had flown into a jealous rage after finding out that she had cheated on him.

The police investigation is ongoing.
