This is the moment a man strips naked at a church altar while brawling with a worker brandishing a pole who is trying to remove him from the place of worship.

The incident took place in the Basilica Santuario de Guadalupe Church in the city of San Luis Potosi in the central Mexican state of the same name, and the footage was shared on social media where it has been widely circulated.

In the footage, the man, whose name is unknown, is seen on the altar wearing only shorts as devotees tell him to come down.

The man is then seen scuffling with a worker who tries to make him leave the altar from a back entrance while apparently brandishing a pole.

At one point, the church intruder caresses a pillar and seems to encourage the worker to hit his bare back.

At the end of the video, the man is seen stripping naked and refusing to let go of the pillar.

According to local media, the man arrived at the church before mass while only wearing shorts and was turned away. He returned at the end of the ceremony and climbed up on the structure.

He is also suspected of attacking a female devotee and a disabled person as well as the church worker who tried to eject him from the altar.

Reports said that he was arrested by the police, although it is unknown if he was acting under the influence of drink or drugs at the time of the incident.
