This footage shows a man being dragged off by a surging river after heavy floods but he manages to make it to safety and wastes no time taking a selfie of himself.
The incident took place in the city of Huejutla de Reyes in the central Mexican state of Hidalgo.
The footage shows the man, who has not been named, being dragged off by the river Tahuizan but he manages to make his way to safety.
But instead of climbing out of the water, the young man can be seen whipping out his phone and either filming himself or taking a selfie of himself to celebrate his new lease of life as people filming him laugh.
The man can be seen holding onto a tree branch while taking the images with the water in the background and then as he stands in it up to his waist.
The footage quickly made the rounds on social media before being picked up by Mexican media, which said it was one of the most viewed videos on Twitter this weekend.
Rivers in the area reportedly swelled after the region was hit by a waterspout, according to local media.
