A nine-year-old boy in the United Arab Emirates has solved 700 Rubik’s Cubes in three hours before managing to arrange them into a design of the country’s founding father.
Jordanian boy Zaid Al Mahrooq, who lives in the city of Dubai in western United Arab Emirates (UAE), solved all 700 Rubik’s Cubes and then arranged them to into the image of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father and the principal driving force behind the nation’s formation in 1971.
Al Mahrooq, who attends the GEMS Cambridge International School in Abu Dhabi, reportedly received his first ever Rubik’s Cube just a few months ago.
His surprised parents said he was able to solve the cube very quickly and was soon teaching other family members his process of solving the puzzle.
His father Mohammad Ayyoub told local media: “Zaid is addicted to the cube, he carries it with him everywhere, to the shops, to school, while visiting pals. It is his best friend.”
“As well as solving it, Zaid started creating patterns on all sides of the cube. One day he came to me and said if I have hundreds of cubes, I can create an image.”
The youngster told local media: “Basically if there is a picture, I can create an image with the cubes I have. This is a way of mixing art with solving a puzzle.”
Zaid’s dad accepted the challenge and ordered 1,000 Rubik’s Cubes for his son who solved 700 of them in just three hours.
Focusing on two colours, blue and white, the youngster also managed to form the completed cubes into the image of the country’s founding father.
Zaid said: “I love the Rubik’s cubes. It is my passion. I want to challenge myself more and more. I want to be famous for solving my Rubik’s cube puzzles.”
