Six people have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a family and killing the father before forcing the rest of the family to dig his grave and bury him.
The kidnapping happened in the city of Tlaltizapan de Zapata in the state of Morelos in central Mexico.
According to the General Attorney’s Office of the state of Morelos, a group of six people broke into the house of the unnamed family on 25th May 2019 and kept a mother and a father captive for six days together with their children who are 11 and 12 years old.
Reports state that the captors threatened the family with guns and forced them to sign documents giving them some properties and vehicles as well as cheques.
The father was reportedly strangled during the kidnapping even though the family obeyed their captors’ commands.
The criminals then allegedly forced the rest of the family to dig a grave in the garden of the family house and bury the dead man.
The investigation lead to the arrest this weekend of Francisco, 72, alias El Pacorro, Benita, 43, alias La Guera, Beatriz, 36, Ana Laura, 20, Lucero Yazmin, 23, and Francisco Javier, 33, according to the General Attorney’s Office of the state of Morelos.
Reports also claimed the mother managed to escape when the captors were distracted on the sixth day of captivity and warned the police.
The group reportedly left the house when they realised the woman had escaped taking the children with them who were later abandoned in the same city and were able to return to their mother.
It is unclear if the suspects have been charged.
