This is the moment nine half-starved puppies scramble over each other to reach the food bowls at an animal shelter after they were found abandoned in a forest and rescued.

The hungry canines were discovered in the woods outside the city of Zapresic in the northern Croatian county of Zagreb before being taken to the animal organisation ‘S-Pas by Gloria Malin’.

The NGO shared footage of the half-starved puppies scrambling over each other to get to the two food bowls.

According to reports, the owner of the dogs called the organisation and said that she could not feed or take care of them.

While advertising for families to adopt the nine puppies, the NGO has reportedly treated them for fleas while volunteers have donated medication and two large sacks of food.

‘S-Pas by Gloria Malin’ said that they have been inundated with unwanted animals recently, and desperately need loving families to offer some of their inhabitants a forever home.

Meanwhile, they have found out who the puppies’ owner is and are reportedly taking legal steps.
