This is the moment suspected Mexican cartel members patrol territory near the US border in military uniform while brandishing machine guns.

According to local media, the video was posted by members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and their associate gang Los Metros.

Reports said that the suspected gang members patrol the municipalities of Miguel Aleman, Mier, Camargo and Nueva Ciudad Guerrero in the north-eastern Mexican state of Tamaulipas, near the Rio Grande.

The footage reportedly shows members of Los Metros, a faction of the Gulf Cartel which is allegedly allied to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) who are believed to be in conflict with the Noreste Cartel over territory close to the US border.

Another clip shows the suspected cartel members patrolling on foot with their faces covered while wearing military gear.

Reports said that the CJNG formed an alliance with Los Metros in an ongoing turf war with the Noreste Cartel.

Last month, members of Los Metros also posted a video of them wearing clown masks as they patrolled the area in a car with hip hop music blaring.

Since Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman was extradited to the US and jailed there, the CJNG’s current leader El Mencho has become one of the most sought-after drug traffickers in the world, according to local media.

The CJNG distributes a third of all the illegal drugs used in the United State and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has offered 10 million USD (8.1 million GBP) for the capture of El Mencho, according to reports.
