Doctors in the Russian capital have rescued this 10-month-old baby who accidentally stabbed a toy car wheel and axle into her skull when she fell at home.

The Moscow City Health Department revealed details of what happened yesterday (23 March).

It said a toddler, who has not been named, was taken to the Speransky Children’s Hospital in the Russian capital Moscow with a wheel from a toy car still on its axle impaled inside her skull as can be seen in the shocking images.

Doctors performed an X-Ray confirming the wheel had penetrated the baby’s cranial cavity and risked causing her serious brain damage.

They performed a neuro sonography which is a procedure that uses ultrasound to find intracranial hematomas or brain damage in some patients which fortunately came back negative for the 10-month-old.

The doctors then carefully removed the object from the baby’s head with the use of a special tool. Child surgeon Ruslan Molotov said they then performed a second X-Ray.

He said the second test was necessary in order to confirm that there were no other foreign objects still inside the girl’s cranium which was also not the case.

The lucky girl was treated for her injuries and was discharged from hospital shortly after to carry out the rest of her recovery from home.

Local media said the young girl has a small hole in her skull but that should not interfere with her normal life in any way.
