A Turkish mechanic had died in hospital after falling ill while washing his car with bleach.

Mesut Saygin, 41, cleaned his car at his workplace in the village of Gundogdu in the district of Kepez in the Turkish province of Antalya at around midday on 21st March.

An autopsy is underway to establish the man’s exact cause of death.

The mechanic fell ill while washing his car with bleach, and was rushed to a nearby private hospital for medical assistance, according to local media.

Saygin was treated in hospital before being discharged, however he fell ill again at home and his family called the emergency services.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance again, but doctors were unable to do anything to save the 41-year-old man’s life.

The victim’s autopsy is underway and the local authorities hope to establish the exact cause of death soon.

It is unclear what type of bleach he was reportedly using to clean his car.

Saygin’s funeral will take place when his body is released for burial after the autopsy has been concluded. The investigation is ongoing.
