This footage shows the moment a young woman taking a class at a motorcycle driving school crashes off a ramp in a fatal incident that cost her her life.
The incident took place in the city of Toledo, which is located in the Brazilian state of Parana, and claimed the life of Renata Cristina Pinheiro, 24, who was declared brain dead on Monday 3rd January after she lost control of the bike on a ramp on 28th December.
The footage shows Renata turning the bike around and preparing to approach the ramp under the supervision of her instructor, who has not been named. She approaches the ramp but appears to increase in speed as she goes up it, ultimately losing control of the bike and coming off the side of the ramp.
The bike can be seen falling on top of her as she comes crashing to the ground.
The bike fell on top of her and reportedly hit her on the head when she crashed, and despite being taken to the Bom Jesus Hospital (HOESP), she did not survive. She was buried on Wednesday 5th January after being declared brain dead on Monday 3rd January.
The young woman’s family has donated her organs, and her mother, who has not been named, took to social media on the day of the funeral to say that her daughter had been “full of life” and dreams.
She said: “I want to thank everyone for the support I have had during these seven days. They were days of suffering and anguish, but we had a lot of people on our side helping and cheering for my daughter’s recovery. But yesterday, after seven days of fighting for her life, she unfortunately departed.
“After having suffered a motorbike accident, this girl full of life, of dreams, who was happy, a companion, always helping in what she could, unfortunately, she departed, my princess Renata Cristina.
“I want to thank everyone, starting with the paramedics, who provided care at the scene. I don’t know who the professionals were, there were two ambulances that went to the scene, and also the Bom Jesus Hospital here in Toledo. They did what they could to save her life, especially the neurologist Kelly, the nurse at ICU 1, and all the health professionals, all of whose names I can’t remember.
She added: “She’s departed. She’s a new little star that will be up there watching over us. Gratitude to all, from the bottom of my heart. With a lot of pain and sadness that nothing and no one will replace my daughter.”
It was not reported if the police are investigating the accident.
