This is the incredible moment a Malaysian soldier dubbed “the snake whisperer” uses a single finger to subdue a huge king cobra before calmly grabbing the creature’s head in his hands.

The video was filmed in an unspecified location in Malaysia and was shared on Instagram by netizen ‘segak_berseragam’ where it has been viewed nearly 50,000 times.

The post was accompanied with the message: “The snake was not just a snake, it was a king cobra in the middle of the road. The soldier was not just a soldier, it was a soldier of many skills.”

According to local media, the unnamed Malaysian soldier caught a king cobra (Ophiophagus hannah), categorised as ‘vulnerable’ by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

In the footage, the uniformed serviceman is seen calmly facing the huge snake and adjusting his feet.

He slowly leans forward with his right hand opened, position directly above the king cobra’s head.

The brave soldier slowly brings his hand down until it is touching the still snake’s head.

Remarkably, he then appears to apply a little pressure which makes the cobra lower its head until it is lying on the ground.

With relative ease, the soldier is then able to take the snake’s head before the cobra can react, while an impressed pal walks over to check that he has the situation under control.

Netizens were impressed with the soldier’s technique, with some Instagram users labelling him “the snake whisperer”.
