Young Child Drops One Floor Down After Jumping On Unstable Platform In Playground That Gave Way

The unusual video captures a young child dropping one floor down after jumping on an unstable platform in a children’s playground, causing it to break.

Surveillance camera footage recorded in the city of Chuzhou, in China’s eastern province of Anhui, showed the five-year-old boy playing in the indoor playground on 24th February.

But just moments later, the video depicted the child plummeting 2.6 metres (8.5 feet) down to the first floor after jumping on an unstable platform that suddenly gave way.

The boy’s mum, who goes by the handle ‘hexagon warrior’, on China’s version of TikTok, Douyin, said: “Thank you for your concern. The screws were loose, and my son fell down.

“My child currently has some scars on his chin. He says it hurts when he touches it.

“There are also a few places on his body that hurt. He also coughs from time to time. I went to the hospital and talked to the doctors.”

She continued: “I asked the staff for the video to show the approximate injury caused by the fall. They firmly said that they could not show me the video.

“After calling the police, they showed me the video. The police were very nice when they were there.”

The video prompted many comments after it was shared online later that day.

Douyin user ‘Sister Jo (manufacturer of armored wire wear-resistant thermocouples)’ said: “Obviously the platform was broken and there is a problem with the facility. This is not a naughty child issue.”

Then user ‘let flowers become flowers’ commented: “It’s the platform that’s broken, 100 per cent their problem. Business must be closed for rectification. This video provides very good evidence.”

And ‘profit’ added: “The vomiting must be due to a concussion, right?”

The clip has fetched more than 12,000 likes and over 12,000 shares after it was posted.
