Massive Boulders Destroy Several Buildings Among Which Ancestral Hall After Mining Explosion On Mountain

The striking videos capture massive boulders wreaking havoc and destroying several buildings among which an ancestral hall after several miners trigger an explosion on a mountain.

The first clip, recorded in Longmen County, located in the city of Huizhou, in China’s south-eastern province of Guandong, showed an individual filming the historic ancestral hall that devastated by the mining blast on 25th February.

The second video depicted the actual explosion, and a massive cloud of smoke billowing from the mountain’s peak as numerous boulders tumbled down to the base.

A man identified as Mr Deng later told media that locals had raised more than CNY 1 million (GBP 109,905) a few years ago to build the ancestral shrine.

He added that nobody injured in the explosion.

The Longmen County Government confirmed there were no casualties and said that they would launch a probe into the incident.

The videos prompted a number of comments from users on China’s version of TikTok, Douyin.

Douyin user ‘It’s round~’ said: “What a pity. Building an ancestral hall is very expensive. When I built it in my hometown, it cost CNY 500 [GBP 55] per square foot.

Then user ‘Ajaan Di’ commented: “Demolishing the ancestral hall is a big deal.”

And ‘Dream play life’ added: “If no one is killed, the media will not come.”
