This is the moment a Mexican wrestler tries to jump from the rigging around the ring but ends up falling backwards onto two other fighters in front of hundreds of fans.

The startling scenes were recorded as the wrestler Aerostar was fighting in the Verano de Escandalo (Summer of Scandal) event organised by the AAA ‘lucha libre’ wrestling company at the Poliforum Zamna arena in the city of Merida in the Mexican state of Yucatan.

In the video, Aerostar can be seen standing near the top of the rigging surrounding the ring.

He is holding onto the rigging with his back to the ring with his rivals below him.

He then jumps off but appears to simply fall backwards and the video shows how he landed on his rivals, named in reports as Monster and Chessman.

Local media said that Aerostar, 34, was taken backstage on a stretcher after the incident but reports suggest he was not seriously injured.

He has since written on social media: “I’m going to be totally sincere with you, it’s a very difficult jump to do but it’s not impossible. I promise to improve it, I’m going to give it the aesthetic it deserves. It’s a jump that because of the height you can’t practice but I promise I’ll achieve it.”

Aerostar won the 2008 Alas de Oro tournament and is known for his high risk moves off the top rope or off arenas’ lighting structures.
