This is the gory moment a woman falls off a motorbike and her head explodes like a watermelon under the wheel of an oncoming lorry.
CCTV footage shows how a male biker and his female partner riding pillion stop before an oncoming lorry, as parked cars mean there is not enough space for both vehicles to safely pass.
However, the man is then seen losing his balance, and he falls sideways to the ground along with his partner and his motorbike in the path of the oncoming lorry.
The driver of the lorry, which is just feet away, is unable to stop in time, and the footage shows how the woman’s head ends up being run over by the wheel and exploding like a watermelon.
A skateboarder just in front of the lorry is seen understandably disturbed by the incident, as he holds his head in his hands.
The woman died instantly in the accident that took place in the Brazilian city of Nova Iguacu in the Greater Rio de Janeiro area on the morning of Monday, 28th June.
Firefighters arrived on the scene shortly afterwards, and the woman’s injured partner was taken to a local hospital. His current condition is unknown.
Neither of the victims’ identities have been divulged, though the man is said to be around 35 years of age and his late partner around 30.
The road was closed to traffic in the aftermath of the accident. No information has yet been reported about the victim’s funeral or if anyone is under investigation.
