This is the moment a woman is shot dead apparently by her granddaughter’s ex-lover as she enjoys a small bonfire outside her home.

The incident took place in the area of Uttam Nagar in the National Capital Territory of Delhi in northern India and was filmed by a nearby CCTV camera.

According to local media, the victim, identified as Shama Devi, 55, was relaxing outside her home with her daughter-in-law and other relatives.

The suspect parked his bike near the house and approached Devi with a pistol hidden behind his back before shooting her at close range.

Local police have identified the gunman as Zafar alias Peetal, a local resident who has allegedly been involved in several other violent crimes including attempted murder.

However, they have yet to track him down and he currently remains at large.

The victim was reportedly shot in the abdomen and was rushed to the nearby Tarak Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Investigators believe that Zafar may have shot the 55-year-old woman after he reportedly ran off with her granddaughter several years ago.

The couple was tracked down by concerned family members, and Zafar was allegedly beaten up and blamed for misleading the young woman.

Around a year ago, the granddaughter was married off to another man and Zafar allegedly still held a grudge towards Devi, who he held responsible for breaking them up.

The investigation continues.
