Cristiano Ronaldo’s mum has been crowned the “queen of Instagram” after she became the Portuguese woman with the most followers on the social media platform.

Maria Dolores Aveiro has 1.9 million followers on Instagram and has been crowned the “queen of Instagram” in Portugal after becoming the Portuguese woman with the most followers in the country.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother has overtaken actress Rita Pereira and TV presenter Cristina Ferreira in recent weeks and shared the news on her page.

The 64-year-old shared a photo of a headline reading “Dolores Aveiro is the Portuguese woman with the most followers on Instagram” and added the caption: “What started off as a curiosity advanced into learning, a new source of knowledge, a partner for those who admire, a bridge for those who come and listen and recognition for those who respect me! Thank you.”

Reports have now crowned her “the queen of Instagram”.

Local media report Portuguese Victoria’s Secret model Sara Sampaio, who has 7.5 million followers on Instagram, was not considered in the ranking for most followers because she does not live in Portugal.

Ronaldo himself is the most-followed person on Instagram with over 171 million followers and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez is the most-followed Spanish woman with 11.6 million followers.
