This woman has been sentenced to four years in prison after she was filmed slapping a bus driver in the face while he was driving for overcharging her by 0.10 GBP.

The incident occurred on the number 30 bus in the city of Haikou, the capital of southern China’s Hainan Province and was recorded by the bus’ CCTV camera.

In the video, female passenger Cheng Rong can be seen arguing with the driver, identified as Mr. Fu, with the bus in motion. Rong was reportedly upset at having been charged 2 RMB (0.2 GBP) for the journey when she thought she should only have paid 1 RMB (0.10 GBP)

She grabs a Chinese flag hanging above the windscreen before turning to Fu and slapping him forcefully in the face.

Fu brakes immediately and pulls his phone out to call the police.

Local media report Rong was arrested on the spot on suspicion of endangering public safety and she has now been sentenced to four years in prison by Meilan District People’s Court.

Driver Fu said: “I was driving at 20kph (12.4mph) and accelerating. I needed to focus on driving so I replied to her: ‘You can report me as you like but don’t bother me when I’m driving.’ Suddenly the woman slapped me in the face, a strong slap.”

After being sentenced, a reportedly tearful Rong said: “It was just a tiny matter. My heart is too narrow and it makes me violate the law.”

Netizen ‘Jintin Chishabot’ commented: “That’s a good job!”

And ‘Gaibianzhi2019’ wrote: “This news makes me feel so comfortable.”

While ‘Maomao 5627’ added: “I support the judge’s sentence.”
