Hande Arslan, 43, had been arguing with her 54-year-old husband Judge Necmi Arslan at their third-storey flat in Istanbul, Turkey.

After stabbing Necmi, she poured red hot cooking oil over him before leaping 60 feet to her death on Friday, 31st March.

Amazingly, she survived and was taken to Goztepe Hospital but she died of multiple injuries just hours later.

The double death reportedly happened while the couple’s two children were in nursery school.

Local councillor Murat Tascioglu called the police when he had been unable to contact his friend, the judge.

Murat said: “I heard the news in the morning. I first thought that she fell but then I was told what had happened.

“She had stabbed her husband. He’s a judge at the Istanbul Anatolian Palace of Justice. When I failed to reach him, I called the police.”

Durukan Dogan, who lives nearby, told local media: “The square was empty. When I looked back, there was a body. Three to four people were there.

“I initially assumed that the woman had passed out. But when I noticed that the passersby were looking upwards, I realised that she must have jumped down.

“There was no blood. We then learned that this was a case of murder and suicide.”

Grocery store manager Saffet Sumer said: “They were our neighbours. The woman hurled herself from the third floor.

“They had two kids. One is three years old, the other one’s five or six, I think. They were in kindergarten. The woman was taken to a hospital. She died there.”
