Violent Blasts Erupt As Blaze Engulfs Dozens Of Fireworks Stalls

This dramatic footage shows fiery blasts repeatedly going off after more than a dozen stalls selling fireworks caught ablaze.

The incident reportedly occurred in Bengbu, in China’s eastern Anhui Province, on Friday, 9th February.

In the video, several people are seen trying to move whatever they can out of the way as fireworks set off outside ignited numerous fireworks stalls.

They reportedly burned for over an hour, causing immense damage to the sellers.

According to witnesses, these were designated retail stalls for pyrotechnics that were set up amid the Chinese New Year holidays, and someone had set off fireworks close to them.

The result was a massive fire with firecrackers constantly crackling as firefighters struggled to get it under control.

Witnesses said the incident caused great financial loss to the vendors, but the exact amount is not yet known.

No casualties or injuries were reported.

The incident drew various reactions on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok.

One user, titled ‘Xin Yao’, commented: “Why would someone want to set it off near here? What if so many fireworks and firecrackers exploding end up injuring people?”

And ‘@Frank’ wrote: “Some people inherently lack quality. As soon as the government loosens control a bit, they start setting up stalls and behaving recklessly. It’s only when something goes wrong that they regret it.”

While ‘Ji Ge’ said: “Onlookers got to watch hundreds of thousands of fireworks without spending a penny.”
