This is the eye-watering moment a car runs over the foot of a builder taking a nap in the street after a heavy meal.

The video starts off with the man, identified as construction worker Mr Liang, deciding to have a nap on the cobbled street and putting a sheet of old cardboard on the ground in order to do so.

The footage shot on 11th September in Ningbo City, which is in China’s Zhejiang Province, then shows the man and a colleague sleep on the ground after having their lunch.

A short while later, white car comes into the street from an underground car park, and the driver is then seen turning right where he runs over the extended leg of the builder.

He instantly pulled his leg in and then catches it in pain as the car, which had probably not seen because of the hedge that was in the way, slams in its brakes.

The man told police they had decided to live by the hedge because it was called and provided shade from the sun. They had been there about an hour when the accident happened.

Although painful however, a medical checkup confirmed he was only suffering from bruising and there was no broken bones.

Ningbo traffic police meanwhile decided that the driver had not driven with enough care, and made him responsible for the injury. They said however that his guilt was minimised by the fact that the construction worker should not have been sleeping on the road and obstructing traffic.

Traffic police also remind drivers to be aware of blind spots, to slow down when performing manoeuvres, and to pay more attention.
