This is the moment two Turkish shopkeepers catch a falling toddler after spotting the boy dangling from a third-floor balcony.

The astonishing save – filmed in Istanbul – shows the two men looking up towards an apartment above their shop.

Then, as they point towards the flat, a child plummets down straight into the arms of one of the men.

His companion can be seen holding on, bracing his pal for the impact.

Local reports name the child as two-year-old Muhammet Tareel who had been dangling from his family’s third-floor balcony.

After the terrifying fall, the shaken boy was taken to hospital for checks and declared to be in good health and sent home.

Dogan Gumustas, one of the shopkeepers who saved the toddler, told local media: “We were sitting down and a friend of ours was drinking tea.

“Then we heard a shout and looked over. We saw the boy dangling.

“We ran over together and it all happened within eight seconds. We got there and we caught him.

“The child is safe, nothing happened. The family did not show up for a while, they must have been doing something. The boy’s uncle came and took him to hospital.

“The boy fell from the third floor. If he wasn’t killed, he would have been severely injured.”

Shopkeeper Salih Dogan said: “While we were sitting down, we saw the child hanging from the balcony without any family members aware.

“Some friends across the street saw the child dangling and rushed to where he was going to fall.

“They opened their arms and caught the boy, saving him from hitting the concrete.

“The boy is in good condition. If they didn’t catch him, he would have hit the concrete and most probably have been killed. Thank goodness he didn’t.”
