The wife and two daughters of the British father hospitalised in Majorca with coronavirus have been released from hospital after testing negative.

Tests carried out on four people at the Hospital Son Espases in Majorca in the Spanish Balearic Islands came back negative, however a fifth sample for the unnamed isolated British man was positive again, according to local media.

The man’s family were reportedly tested along with an eight-year-old boy who had also come into contact with the Brit.

The family members have since been released from the Spanish hospital while the eight-year-old boy will continue to be monitored for the time being, according to reports.

The boy, as well as the British man’s eldest daughter, reportedly tested positive for common flu.

Meanwhile, the infected Brit will continue his treatment in isolation in hospital for the deadly coronavirus.

According to a spokesperson for Hospital Son Espases, the Brit, who lives in Majorca, will be tested on Wednesday and Friday and if the results are negative, he could be released by the weekend.

His condition is said to be stable and he is reportedly only showing minor symptoms.

He was the second person to be confirmed to have the virus in Spain after a German tourist was diagnosed with coronavirus on the island of La Gomera in the Canary Islands.

Meanwhile, the British coronavirus sufferer is believed to have contracted the condition from UK national Steve Walsh at a French ski resort between 24th and 29th January, according to local media.

Walsh reportedly contracted the illness at a work meeting in Singapore and may have passed it onto at least 10 people at the ski resort.
