A coach passenger was seized after police saw he was in apparent agony and had nearly a kilogramme of heroin in packages in his stomach.
Officers had pulled the passenger aside for checks at the bus terminal in Diyarbakir when they noticed his discomfort.
But after a search produced nothing, they sent him to hospital, where X-ray scans found more than 100 capsules of heroin he had swallowed.
In total, police from the Diyarbakir Narcotics Crime Branch say they retrieved 800 grammes (1.8 lb) of the drug from the luckless trafficker on 19th March.
The man – identified only by his initials N. G. – was arrested and charged with drug trafficking or supplying drugs.
One image shows him being led away with his hands cuffed behind his back.
And another shows a close-up of one of the capsules of heroin removed from his digestive tract.
Other images show 110 capsules containing heroin laid out on a table.
At the time of reporting, N. G. remained in custody.
If convicted, he faces a minimum of 10 years behind bars.
