Body-Cam Footage Exposes Police Shooting Distraught And Armed Man

Police in Ihado State have released footage showing the events leading up to a fatal shooting of an apparently distraught and armed man.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office released body-cam and surveillance videos showing the final moments before victim Jeremy Banach, 38, was shot by Star police officer Jason Woodcook on 15th June 2022.

It took nine months for the Critical Incident Task Force, led by the Boise Police Department, to investigate the shooting and for Valley County Prosecutor Brian Naugle to review the case.

Naugle cleared Officer Woodcook and the two other responding officers of any criminal charges.

The release of the video marks the first time the Sheriff’s Office has publicly shared body camera footage of a police shooting, aiming to provide transparency for the public.

Jeremy’s parents, Skip and Gina Banach, initially called dispatchers seeking help for their son, who was allegedly on drugs and trespassing on private property.

They hoped for court-mandated detox and rehabilitation for Jeremy.

The released video shows officers interacting with Jeremy, who claimed to have a gun.

After leaving the property, an officer raised his weapon as Jeremy appeared to re-adjust his own gun, leading to the tragic shooting.

Jeremy’s father later informed officers that his son might have had a gun stolen from their home the day before.
