This viral video seen over three million times shows a Toyota driver trying to race a Mercedes-Benz before accidentally clipping the German saloon and overturning.

The incident happened in the city of Yixing in East China’s Jiangsu Province on 31st October as the Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG pulled up next to the Toyota Prado during a red light.

The Merc’s dashcam footage shows its driver racing off along Taodu Road, but his speedy start reportedly annoys and insults the Toyota owner who refuses to be outshone by the 650,000-RMB (71,400 GBP) German car.

Before long, the Japanese SUV speeds into view from the left-hand side, and the motorist appears to try and cut in front of the Mercedes-Benz.

The risky manoeuvre, however, causes the Prado to collide with the C43, and the SUV skids sideways before overturning, rolling into the trees and shrubs by the roadside.

Footage taken in the aftermath of the incident shows the Prado badly managed as a result of the crash, but reports said its owner survived without any serious injuries.

Yixing police are investigating the incident, and are expected to charge the Toyota owner with dangerous driving, according to reports.

If found solely liable for the crash, the Prado owner will also be ordered to compensate the Mercedes-Benz owner, as well as the city for its damaged greenery.
