This is the moment a pensioner has his foot caught in a closing bus door as the vehicle is driven away and drags him several feet along the road.

The incident happened on the streets of Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province in South China, as Mr Wang was stepping off at BRT Huajing New Town Station.

CCTV footage of the incident on 3rd November shows Mr Wang, who is wearing a cap, having already planted his left foot on the ground when the doors of the route B4 bus unexpectedly close and catch his right leg.

The vehicle is then immediately driven away, spinning Mr Wang around and dragging him roughly 6 feet in the narrow gap between the bus and platform barrier.

Mr Wang eventually falls out onto the ground as the bus leaves the station, with the pensioner escaping serious injuries.

According to reports, Mr Wang was later treated for soft tissue injuries on his knee and head, and did not require further medical treatment.

The driver in question, who has not been named in reports, has been suspended and ordered to take further safety training courses.

He is expected to keep his job.
